Hide-shima Island

Hide-shima Island is a good looking island floating on the sea offing of Hide-shima village. The circumference of this island is 1.8 km and the highest point is 50 m above sea level. It's name comes from the word "Hide", means a rising sun, because a morning sun looks like rising from this island.
This island is the only breeding place of Oceanodroma castros, an endangered species, in the western Pacific.
※ The landing to this island is prohibited.

Saki-Kuwagasaki Miyako
You can see it only from the sea. Please take the sightseeing boat tour, Jodogahama shima-meguri (40-minute round-trip-tour).
It has been designated as a national natural treasure on December 24, 1935.
