The Tsugaruishi-gawa River

津軽石川 This clear stream flows into the bottom of Miyako Bay and is famous for going up of salmon.
A folklore says that there was a rich harvest from the Ishikawa River in Kuroishi, Tsugaru (the western part of Aomori prefecture) thanked to a miracle stone, so people of Tsugaruishi brought a piece of the stone here, after that they also had a rich harvest from this river in fall. On that score, they named this river Tsugaruish-gawa River after Tsugaru-no-ishi, the miracle stone of Tsugaru.
In winter, swans come flying here and we have Miyako Salmon Festival on January 3 every year. Please enjoy them.
